Hello everyone!  We hope that everyone had a fun and safe 4th of July weekend! Today we are going to talk about something that is very cool: window perforated vinyl decals!  No really, this material is amazing!

When applied to a window and viewed from the outside, it has the appearance of a complete image.  However, when viewed from the inside, it is completely see-through.  The effect is made possible by thousands of tiny circles that are cut out of the vinyl.  Even though the image is technically only printed on half of the material, our brains automatically piece together the image in a way that makes sense.  The same thing happens when we look through it from the back, where there is no printed image. Our brains will automatically piece together the visual information of the outdoor surroundings, and ignore vinyl that is applied to the window. 

There are other uses too! When applied to a window that receives a lot of direct sunlight, it can actually help to control the amount of light in the room, and reduce air conditioning costs! Here are some pictures!

Perforated window vinyl is commonly used for decals on vehicles as well.  It lets the vehicle feature an advertisement that uses the most available space possible, while still allowing the driver to see out the window. Safety First!
